Guide

Youssef Boujouija

Morocco

Youssef was born and raised in Merzouga, an Amazigh (Berber) village in the nomadic Erg Chebbi area of the Sahara desert. He grew up in a family tourism business, and aspired to become a tour guide. He left home to pursue a degree in English Literature at the University of Meknes, and worked in the tourism and hospitality – including managing a hotel for two years – while earning his diploma. Then, with his degree and extensive knowlege of Morocco, Youssef returned to tourism full-time as a guide. He loves to share his knowledge of Berber culture and his homeland. Youssef speaks five languages fluently including Arabic, Berber, English, French, and Spanish, and has travelled extensively overseas to better understand travelers’ needs and interests. Youssef’s fun, friendly, and relaxed nature make him beloved by all who have the opportunity to have him as a guide… and travelers also appreciate his careful driving!
