Day 3 London Past and Present
After breakfast, meet your guide and set out to experience London through a local lens, exploring the sights, sounds, and flavors that make this city such a vibrant place to call home. Begin at the Barbican, a striking 20th-century architectural landmark whose bold concrete forms reflect an ambitious, utopian vision of urban life. Tucked within its walls, the Barbican Conservatory offers a surprising oasis of lush greenery and quiet calm, a peaceful counterpoint to the city beyond. Just steps away, encounter the remnants of Roman Londinium’s ancient city walls.
From here, continue to Spitalfields Market, where historic streets buzz with creative energy, artisan stalls, and enticing food vendors. You’ll have time to browse and choose a delicious snack before heading toward the river. Boarding a water bus on the Thames, travel downstream to Greenwich, watching the city unfold from the water before arriving to stroll through the graceful park and visit the Royal Observatory, home of the Prime Meridian and sweeping views over London. Close the day, and your time in the city with a true local favorite: the Bermondsey Beer Mile, a lively stretch of railway arches filled with innovative craft breweries and independent eateries. Sampling the best of the neighborhood, return to your boutique hotel for a final night in London, full of stories, flavors, and memories.
