Kaziranga is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for hosting the world’s largest population of endangered Indian rhinoceros, also called the greater one-horned rhinoceros, as well as Asian elephants, Asiatic water buffalo, swamp deer, tigers, and many varieties of birds. First established in 1905, the park contains numerous rivers, small ponds, and other water sources.
